bcm96348GW_fs_kernel_3.02L.01.-090602_2312.zip ( AnnexB with NARS )

Releases notes:

BUILD 090602
+ New AnnexB version!
* hd shutdown recover patch to kernel (thanks Sergey Lvov)
* New stupid-ftpd version with more fixes (thanks Sergey Lvov)
* e2fsprogs now are stripped down
- removed nls_ascii
+ New stupid-ftpd features:
+ users that begins with “admin” has access to ftp root “/” instead of “/ftp_pub/”
+ new config file for addition/changes is read after original one, no more need to do tricks to extend stupid-ftpd config: “/var/stupid-ftpd-alternate.conf”
+ New ADSL physical layer and new adsl*.ko + adslctl programs (MANY thanks to StefanV3 for finding and testing them).
+ adsl phy A2p023k/B2p023k (USR9113)
+ adsldd.ko d20e (Belkin F5D7633)
+ adslctl 1.0 (Belkin F5D7633)
+ New ADSL drivers compatible with dmt 8.07 - http://dmt.mhilfe.de/
+ cp866 cp1251 loaded by default (no more modules)
+ added wc command (try for example “wc -l /proc/net/ip_conntrack” for tuning your setup)

KNOWN PROBLEMS:
* in adsl statistics, SNR Margin, is 0.0 in up- and downstream. Attenuation shows SNRM values, Output-Power is showing values from attenuation and Attainable Rate shows Output Power. A little concern for a better ADSL driver and a complete compatibility with DMT: http://dmt.mhilfe.de/

For intermediate releases and more support from openwrt community see this thread on openWRT forums.

This firmware is mostly based on hacking and analyzing previous full banner and Blu3s M00d versions mods. Thanks to all communities that support this great piece of Hardware.

Many thanks goes also to: AndreyPopov, Sergey Lvov, StefanV3, Snakus and a lot of other people interested in this experiment.

As usual: No warranty, prepare to unbrick in case of failure (see http://domodossola.altervista.org/wl-600g/debrick.htm ).

hi. PPTP is supported by this firmware?
PermalinkPermalink 2009-04-21 @ 00:48
Comment from: TheDrake [Member] Email · http://www.drakeworld.net/blogs/drakeblog
Do you mean passthrough PPTP (client on LAN, server on WAN)?

I'm using it without problems, but it works with original firmware too.

I suspect you mean some other PPTP config.

Is there snmpd? :) as I understand it's from busybox, but nothing about it here :( ? Maybe then it could be added as binary and start from /var/harddisk/asus/sbin or elsehow?

reason > collect statistics on another server with cacti....

SNMP should be working with Asus original firmware too. Just enable it via telnet interface and reboot router.

You should configure and enable SNMP (menu management/snmp) and enable access via LAN (menu management/access control).

thanx :) I'll try it (was confised 'couse can't find anything about snmp (snmpd) when in sh (and bash) on router.
should it present in $ ps after it?
and another stupid question :) is there any analog of $ netstat -na ? :)

Yes, "snmp" process is visible via "ps".

Yes, netstat -na is present too in this build.

Hi!
"Large file support": which modules support this feature? stupid-ftpd, busybox, samba?

Does your firmware have NARS reconnect patch?
PermalinkPermalink 2009-04-21 @ 13:32

@yurka: fixed link, sorry & thanks.

@he6y3u: I'll try with latest ADSL phy ASAP. Thanks a lot for links, I didn't know about them. Hope them work.

@rex: MediaTomb should work also on other firmwares (is statically linked). I'll try building Annex-B, after some more patches requested by users. Please be patient. :)

@Sergey: Large file support is for Kernel, Busybox, mediatomb, mt-daapd and Samba for shure. Never tested with stupid-ftpd, could works. You should have an EXT2 or ETX3 partition however... About NARS patch: I'll check for it and I'll include it.

As far as I know stupid-ftpd doesn't support large files by default. There are some limitations in source code. You can find detailed information here:

In next release snpcfg.html will be enabled.

Don't know how enable daylight saving. Any hints?

@Zambu: I'm working on cross-compiling transmission too.

always enabled telnet - NOT need save cfg, edit and load again to access router by telnet. this method not right, because if change any settings on Management->Access than telnet settings in cfg reset.

exist /var/services.conf file where this setting store. are you make that always in services.conf telnet set to "1".

about nntp - may be need patch or new version of nntp client.
why daylight saving no supported in current nntp - don't know.
in other routers like wl-500 series daylight saving work.

Hey Drake,
This looks great. I will try it when I get home on my wl600g. I've wanted to make this router download torrents and media for quite a while.
Also I want to be able to stream downloaded media from the hdd if possible. I noticed that the broadcom usb is operating at 1.1 speeds normally so streaming is impossible at 150kps. Is your firmware any faster with the usb?
Nice work mate.

Hi,
Is there a chance to share all the patches you have made to the original sources? The most important for me is the NARS fix (authentication error every 30 minutes from my ISP!), but others are cool as well. It would be good to have them available somewhere on the net for others.

Please share via some upload site or email.

With the Drake's firmware, my wl-600g router does not connect to Internet. Both ADSL and IP leds are green, but in web-interface there is "PPP down" and no Internet connection is avaliable. Soft and hard resets do not change anything. This happens both on
bcm96348GW_fs_kernel_3.02L.01.-090602_1528.zip ( AnnexA )
bcm96348GW_fs_kernel_3.02L.01.-090602_2330.zip ( AnnexA with NARS )
With official 1.0.3.6 formware the router connects perfectly.

How can I try to fix it?

@friend: Sorry, no JFFS or nvflash support. This version of modded original firmware uses the original firmare as base and it have a locked and old method for accessing config. Not compatible with any nvram I've found till now.

For sourcecode please mail to me.

Thanks a lot, very good firmware mod.
Wanted to ask as I saw you at OpenWrt forum if it is possible also to use OpenWrt firmware with ASUS WL-600g and find or build an ADSL driver in it?
Sorry if the question is stupid cause I'm not familiar with OpenWrt firmware at all.
Wanted to try, but with ADSL it is useless for me.

Hi,
I downloaded the firmware for annex B with NARS (whatever it is) and standard fetures works. But new features on the web page did not work at all :( SAMBA and SERVICES show connections error (no page is displayed).

Any suggestions?

Hello again, I am trying to find some step by step manual how to prepare and connect HDD or flash to WL-600g with Drakes firmware. I have only find some bits and peaces but not the beginning.
My questions:
1) Which HDD is current.
2) How to get root password to my WL-600g (find somewhere that I need it) in telnet I can only log as admin and I see only stupid menu and list of a few unimportant linux commands.
3) How to create the flash disk with HDD software? formating as ext3 and copying the files do not work.
4) I know that these are probably questions that are there somewhere so concreate links are good for me.

I promisse that when I make it work I will do step by step manual with screenshots for newbies like me and I will put it there so nobody will have to bother again.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Good day.
I've updated my WL-600g with this firmware (AnnexA with NARS) and installed software from ftp://78.25.8.242/wl600/wl600_hd_0603.tar.gz
Generally everything works Ok, but I have some troubles.
The mos disturbing is that I can't work with files larger than 2 GB using samba. I connect to the network drive and can't even see them. When i connect to the drive using FTP everything's ok, the files are present. There are no problems with other files. When the drive was connected to the PC USB i was able to move/copy those files. The filesystem on the drive is Ext3.
Also I wasn't able to find any way to specify folder for each torrent in transmission or yodctcs clients.
Could anyone help me with solving these problems or advice anything.
Thanks in advance.

@Andrew: Sorry, no way to get JFFS and nvflash support. Asus firmware does not support it. This mod is unmaintained by me... :D

@Igor: Please try using older hd disk images. I know that they work. FYI: every program port need to be compiled with the right options enabled for large file support.

I've found manuals in English https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?pid=98328#p98328 and in Russian http://underaze.livejournal.com/2868.html#cutid1 (if anyone needs it)
It is rather detailed, and I suppose it's qite enough for the beginning. Using this manual you can get everything working, but without any advanced customization.
