Cory Doctorow: Some Venetian merchants are keeping three sets of prices: the price they charge locals (low), the price they charge tourists (higher) and the price they charge rude tourists (highest). “Rudeness” includes not speaking Italian. Venetian police are trying to put a stop to it by spot-checking restaurant register receipts against the menu prices and assessing fines against offenders.

“It really offends us when they walk in, make their demands and walk out,” she said. “We Venetians spend all our time being polite to each other.”

Italiani popolo di “furbi".

In un certo senso mi fa piacere pensare al turista maleducato giustamente “punito” per la sua cafoneria.
Ma, allora, cosa dovrebbero fare all’estero nei nostri confronti? Noi che notoriamente siamo quanto di peggio si possa pensare, da questo punto di vista?

In ogni caso, è l’ennesimo esempio dell’arroganza con cui i veneziani trattano quella che è allo stesso tempo la loro fortuna e condanna: il turismo.

Forti del fatto che l’unicità e la bellezza della loro città saranno sempre in grado di attrarre nuovi polli da spennare.
