E' stata ufficialmente rilasciata la prima versione finale di Opera Mini.

E' la versione J2ME del celebre browser web, adatta per girare su un gran numero di cellulari che supportano applicazioni Java.

Ciò che distingue Opera Mini dagli altri browser, ad esempio quello incorporato nel mio K700i, è la sua tecnologia Small-Screen Rendering: le pagine web vengono processate dai server di Opera e vengono riformattate in modo da non richiedere scroll orizzontali per essere lette, rendendo la navigazione molto comoda.

E' incredibile vedere come riesce a rendere leggibili quasi tutti i siti su un display piccolo come quello di molti cellulari

Scoccano frecciatine tra Jobs e Dell:

In 1997, shortly after Jobs returned to Apple, the company he helped start in 1976, Dell's founder and chairman, Michael Dell, was asked at a technology conference what might be done to fix Apple, then deeply troubled financially.

"What would I do?" Dell said to an audience of several thousand information technology managers. "I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders."

Nel corso dell'ultimo anno, Firefox si è diffuso inesorabilmente a scapito di Internet Explorer.

In Novembre, OneStat aveva annunciato che Firefox aveva superato il 10% degli utilizzi globali.

Per quanto mi riguarda, analizzando circa 120000 richieste alla mia homepage, ho notato una situazione ben diversa: almeno un quarto degli accessi proviene ormai da Firefox :-)
